Finding the right feng shui consultant can be a daunting task but if you’re in the process of (or considering) this for your life then these tips will help guide you along the way. Whether you are wanting to attract love, general guidance, money or better health, feng shui helps to realign and rearrange the space and chi around you. You’d be surprised how much objects and energy can directly impact our lives and feng shui allows you to fully absorb the effects of your belongings, your home, your office and areas where you spend most of your time.
Key Tips for Choosing a Feng Shui Consultant to Elevate Your Home & Your Life
- Know why you need a consultant. Do your best to identify any problems you may be having prior to your first consultation.
- Ask for a referral. Many have worked with consultants already and can recommend what’s right for you! Check their reviews on Google, Yelp and via social media testimonials.
- Do your homework. Make sure they are well-trained in Classical Feng Shui from either a good school or Master Teacher. Other methods are less effective in working with chi on all levels. Feng Shui works with both Time and Space.
- Interview carefully. Make sure they have experience. Ask questions like: How long have you been doing this work? What types of clients do you mostly work with? What kind of results did they get? Get the specifics like if their health improved, they got a new job, a new partner, more money flow, increased business by 20% in the first month, etc. Also, ask for references if you’re still unsure.
- Make sure they answer all your questions easily. Be sure to get a free informational consultation by phone or a quick chat at a coffee shop or their business.
- Get a good contract. Get clear on fees. Are there extra fees for implementation beyond the consultation?
- Be prepared to get started. Let your spouse or employees know what you will be doing and introduce them to your consultant. If possible, send kids off on the day of your consult so you can devote all your time and concentration to the project.
- Be ready to hear good news and bad news. Once you hire a consultant you owe it to yourself to follow their recommendations. Do the best you can and discuss options for things that don’t seem possible for you. Discuss any timeline changes ahead of time. Maybe you will be out of town or on vacation after beginning the project. If possible, it’s best to begin and finish in one go to get optimum results.
- How do you feel about them? Do you get a good sense that you can work together well?
- Finally, schedule your appointment and get started to improve the energy flow in your life and business for even more success!

Hi Belinda, I just bought a house in Austin and moved in last week. (I also have an apartment out of town where I work, and that’s where I am now. It’s spartan, but what I left in the apartment is still feng shui and I love it) Anyways back to my new house in Austin, I would like to have some Feng Shui assistance. I feel that a second pair of eyes in regards to how I am setting up my furniture etcetera would be great to ensure I’m on the right track. I feel its the perfect timing for this as I haven’t quite landed on furniture placement or colors yet. For example, I haven’t invested in a dining table yet and think it will very much depend on what the area needs (glass top? metal legs? more wood?) I have plans to someday soon be using my garage as a more spiritual place – I like to practice reiki and play crystal singing bowls, meditate and the like. I’m hoping the garage and backyard will become spaces where others will want to gather as well. And I hope to make money with ventures such as reiki and selling crystals and herbal teas, and just in general building a healthy community in and around my space. I’ll be back in Austin for the week of 9/22-9/27 Then I won’t really be back (due to work) until the whole months of December and January. Do you do house calls and how much would that cost? Would that week in september be ideal?
