Feng Shui for Self-Care

August 8, 2019 by Belinda Mendoza Leave a Comment

What is self-care?

Taking care of oneself at all levels : Emotionally, Spiritually, Physically, and Mentally.

It’s an integral part of having good feng shui and living a happy life. Abundance is not just about money, wealth or success. It’s about having your whole life align into harmony. If our health is poor, we feel weak or sickly and we cannot accomplish our dreams or desires very easily. In my work, I address what people want and work towards setting up a flow for them to achieve them with more ease and grace.

Feng Shui is not just about re-arranging furniture. Its about setting your intentions. How do you want your environment to affect you? What actions will you take? Feng Shui is about increasing momentum for the things you desire.

Self-Care is the first step.

No matter what your life looks like right now, it’s important to include time for you in your schedule. I work with business owners who now achieve more growth and prosperity than ever before. Right after their consultation they are usually overworked and stressed. This, of course, is not good feng shui. Know and trust that the abundance you are experiencing will always be there. Rest assured that taking care of yourself with good nutrition, sleep, and a happy mindset, will not slow you down.

Here’s an article with good tips on Self-Care:

Simple and Affordable Self-Care Practices for Busy People
By Emma Grace Brown

If you think self-care isn’t for you because it takes too much time and money, think again. Self-care is about relieving stress and feeling joy. It can be as simple as walking the dog, reading a book, or hitting a few golf balls on your favorite course. There’s no need to overspend or cut into family time because self-care practices can be worked into your daily routine conveniently and inexpensively. Below are a few ideas you should consider.

Turn Off the Phone and Just Breathe.

It can be hard to stop and decompress for 10 or 15 minutes in the midst of a busy day. However, it doesn’t take much time and actually works wonders for your mood, not to mention your blood pressure. If you feel too distracted to just breathe and let your mind wander for a moment, try turning off your smartphone. More than likely, there’s nothing so pressing that you can’t shut down for a few minutes now and then. Let calls go to voicemail, and return a text or email later on. Tuning out can take some getting used to when you’re constantly on the go, but the benefits of just enjoying the quiet for a few minutes can make a positive difference.

Early Morning Solace
Add another restful ritual to your daily routine by getting up early each morning, enjoying a nutritious breakfast, and doing some simple exercises. It can be a soothing daily touchstone if you don’t like racing out the door, jumping into heavy traffic and feeling frazzled when you reach the office. Declare the snooze button off limits and kick off each day the healthy way.

Take Vacation Time Seriously
There’s a reason your employer offers paid vacation time: They want you to take it because they know the value of time away from the office. So, don’t let this very important benefit go to waste— your brain and body need the time away. If you’re concerned about the cost of travel and lodging, look into a vacation spot closer to home, or enjoy a staycation. As Turnkey explains, there are many fun sights to enjoy in and around Austin, from local favorites like Lake Travis and Lake Austin to something a little more out of the way and offbeat, such as a Haunted Austin Walking History Tour. Regardless of what you choose to do, make sure it’s something you enjoy and find relaxing, which is essentially the cornerstone of self-care.

Go Green
You don’t have to be a master gardener to add some relaxing greenery to your home and work environment. Green plants keep you breathing purified air and give your surroundings a pleasant, natural feel that can help relieve stress. Small-scale indoor horticulture is inexpensive and doesn’t take up much time. Just keep your plants watered.

Dialogue with Yourself (on Paper)
You go through a lot during the course of a busy workday. Each day is full of little frustrations and people who get on your nerves. Swallowing all that frustration is unhealthy and it’s totally unnecessary. Instead, try making sense of your thoughts and feelings by writing them down in a daily journal. Journaling can provide a positive and thoughtful form of emotional relief.

Keep Moving
If you don’t want to spend money on a gym membership, remember that the important thing is to keep moving. Look for ways to work at least 30 minutes of vigorous movement into your day. That could mean parking farther away from work and walking part of the way, taking the stairs
instead of the elevator, or going for a brisk walk on your lunch break.

Self-care should be simple, fun, and very relaxing. You don’t have to rack up credit card charges to engage in productive, restorative self-care. Instead, emphasize low-impact activities that don’t demand much time or cost a lot of money.

Feng Shui for Fitness

April 6, 2018 by Belinda Mendoza Leave a Comment

2018 is the Year of the Yang Earth Dog and self-care is suggested.

We live in a fast-paced technological world.  We need to slow down and this is the year for it.  In slowing down, we don’t mean being a couch potato, although, sometimes just doing nothing is needed.
Health is one of the 9 life areas of the Bagua.  With positive intention, we can live a healthy and happy life. Moving our bodies, moving chi, is essential to good health and good feng shui!  Here are some tips to help you on that road to success!

How To Turn Your Fitness Routine Into Self-Care

Fit Shiela

Having a workout routine can feel like more of a chore than a hobby, which is why many of us find it so hard to stick to one. The best way to make sure you reach your fitness goals is by turning your workouts into part of your self-care regimen: something you do to make you feel better, not worse. As a result, these changes can help you look forward to exercise and stick to it.

Choose The Right Exercise

Exercise can be a great form of self-care, but only when you enjoy it. Choose an exercise that will make you feel good not just because it’s good for you, but because it’s fun.

If you love the outdoors, take up hiking on your weekends. If you are always on the dance floor at parties, sign up for a dance class. If cardio tends to feel sweaty and uncomfortable for you, hit the swimming pool. According to Time, the weightlessness, coolness and lack of impact of swimming make it a preferred exercise for many people who usually dislike cardio, while still being great for you.

Consider Morning Fitness

Most of us feel like we are ‘too busy’ to focus on our wellness and fitness. Our schedules tend to be hectic, and we’re not sure where we can fit in regular exercise. However, as Plexus explains, ‘too busy’ is not a valid excuse. You can make time in your day for your workouts.

If you tend to be busy in the evenings, why not try to wake up an hour earlier and work out in the mornings? Getting out of bed may be difficult, but morning workouts keep your schedule clear for the rest of the day.

Besides, research has shown that people who workout in the mornings tend to eat better throughout the day and achieve better long-term results. You are also likely to have a more positive approach to your day and feel better because you have done something productive right off the bat.

Keep a Schedule

Whenever you choose to workout, a great way to make sure you stick to your fitness routine is by scheduling it. Whether you plan your day using a Google Calendar, journal or one of the many time management apps, block out your planned workouts ahead of time and make them a priority.

This also goes for other aspects of your wellness and self-care. If you feel like you never get around to doing the things you love, such as reading, spending time with friends, or playing music, then start scheduling your favorite hobbies into your day.

Incorporate Mindfulness Into Your Fitness Routine

Yoga may have become a bit of a cliche, but it is undoubtedly a great exercise for mind and body. According to Forbes, studies have shown that it is good for both your muscles and cardiovascular health while also being an effective tool in combating depression.

It is an ideal form of fitness for those seeking balance and harmony between their physical and mental health, and it is also varied enough that you are likely to find a type of yoga that works for you specifically.

However, if that doesn’t sound like your thing, there are plenty of other small ways to practice mindfulness when exercising. Focus on your breathing and on the purpose of your exercise, and try to remain in the moment while you are doing it. Remember to stretch, warm up, and cool down. These small changes will help improve the flow of your exercise and make you feel more positive and clear-headed after your workouts.

Fitness doesn’t have to be something you dread. Not only can it be a genuinely fun and enjoyable activity, it can also clear your head help you face the day with a better attitude. When well-implemented, a fitness regimen should be an integral part of your self-care, and not a form of punishment. Remember to be kind to yourself if you slip up, whilst also keeping in mind that the kindest thing you can do for yourself is to work toward a healthy mind and body.
