Chinese New Year 2018

January 29, 2018 by Belinda Mendoza Leave a Comment

As we probably know by now, Feng Shui is about attracting positive things into our lives. Friday, February 16 is the Chinese New Year (otherwise known as Lunar New Year) and the best time to highlight on these auspicious elements in our life!

A beloved tradition of Chinese culture, Chinese New Year is a 15-day celebration and begins on the second New Moon of the year. A Chinese Zodiac and Feng Shui Element determines the energy for that year.

Welcome Earth Dog!

How to prepare for Chinese New Year 2018

A Clean Home. Your home should be sparkly clean before the New Year as it’s bad luck to clean the first few days of this holiday. The same goes for your yard and car. It helps get a fresh start on the year. It’s like beginning on a clean state.

Home Decor. Red, a known auspicious color in Feng Shui, is great to wear on Chinese New Year for good luck. Also implement the color gold where you can as this promotes abundance and success. Placing items of Love, Prosperity, Abundance, Joy, Happiness and Success are all key words that should be focused throughout your home or office.

Clothing. Welcome the New Year with new clothing. Donate old items to help make room for some new pieces. This will ensure you start the year with fresh energy.

Food. One of the most important parts of a Chinese New Year is the food that you consume. Mandarin oranges for luck, fish for abundance, and uncut noodles for a long life! Be sure to share a meal with family or friends on that day.

Gifts. Red envelopes with money signify abundance being passed to family and friends. Chinese culture often gift these little tokens of gratitude for financial well-being. You can also use them to place intentions you have written for the New Year and place it in areas you’d like to enhance. One in the bedroom for love and romance, one in your office for more business, etc.
