In today’s world many people have fears about safety. Television, social media, internet, can all feed into this. Limit your exposure to these if you already are a fearful person. Whether its neighbors, people driving by, those visiting your home to perform services, or people who visit, we don’t need to live in fear. We need to feel safe. Doing whatever it takes to achieve that end is important to inner peace and well-being.
It of course first begins with you. The first thing to do is identify the fear. Is it real or imagined? Is it based on a prior experience that you are bringing into your new environment? If it is something you carry with you wherever you go, you can still do the things feng shui suggests, but do get help from an experienced counselor or therapist. If you cannot sleep or are anxious all the time, it can be a sign of a deeper issue within you that needs healing.
Secondly, get an alarm system for your home, dogs that bark if they hear someone approaching the doors, or a neighborhood watch started. As a single person at this time in my life, I let my neighbors know when I am leaving town. They watch my house for me. In feng shui, you can place cures, but you also have to take action. Feng Shui is about living in harmony with your environment… this means the outside world too.
Have your neighbors, fire, police, and ambulance numbers clearly displayed where you can access them quickly. Refrigerators, cellphones, or visor of your car are some good places. Make sure your house numbers are clearly visible outside and that you leave lighting on. Research shows that dark houses at night attract burglars. The chi is also low so not working in your favor.
Make sure your fire detectors and fire extinguishers work well. Check them quarterly.
If you are not fearful but cautious and smart, the following tips can also help you feel protected.
Here are some Powerful Feng Shui Symbols For Protection to Place in Your Home or Business:
1) Place Asian Foo Dogs in the foyer/entry of your home or business facing towards the door. These act as protectors. They were used to guard the Emperor’s palaces 4,000 yrs. ago.
2) Place a Feng Shui Bagua Mirror over your front door if you want to ward off negative energy. It acts as a mirror reflecting back anything unwanted. NEVER place these inside the space. This year homes in the West and Southeast according to flying star feng shui, really need them to avoid sickness and misfortune.
3 )Place a spiritual icon of your choice in the Northeast Corner of your home or space facing into the room. An angel, a cross, a saint, a buddha, Ganesh, a strong animal figure, etc. Northeast is considered the spiritual corner in Black Hat Sect/Western Feng Shui.
4 )Wear a spiritual pendant with some metal in it. You can wear a metal cross with a ribbon or leather tie or a metal chain with a crystal. The key is having something metal on the jewelry and that is feels protective.
5) Carry a blue amulet in your purse, briefcase, or luggage when traveling to avoid theft.
6) Place Red items in the Center of your home. This can help to avoid violence and anger this year. A red buddha, quan yin statue, red heart, etc. are good ideas as well.
