Well, its the new year and we are into Spring. Many events are underway but if you have some coming up, there are some things you should know.
Feng Shui has so many applications. I use it as a practitioner in everything I do. I came out of a sales/marketing background where I organized over 100 events a year. From running surgical courses, conducting sales training programs, putting together sales award meetings, I was the queen of event planning with no formal training. I learned on the job but with plenty of resources at my disposal. I could call up the home office and ask for brochures, extra graphics. I had a budget to fly in the top people to present at my events.
Now, as an entrepenuer its a bit different. Having to be cost conscious has made me even more creative. With my feng shui background, I add a higher level of energy to everything so it has a better feel and flow to it. My results are always so much more powerful and successful using feng shui.
If you are in this position, my tips will be helpful. If not and you have unlimited funds and access to experts, you will still get some good tips.
Key Tips for Successful Event Planning:
- Set an Intention. As you would write out goals for a business plan, intentions are a strong source of energy. They help to set things in motion. Your thoughts have a profound effect on your results.
- Write Intentions in present tense. In feng shui, everything is about the present moment as it is all we have. Past is gone, future not here yet. It is more powerful to say, “My event is highly successful in everyway”. You can be more specific if you choose. Be sure to stay away from words like” I hope or I wish…”.
- Place your Intentions on a red piece of paper and post on a prominent wall in your office so you see it often. It will remind you of what you intend to happen. Red is a high prosperity color and adds energy to everything. Placing it in the South will bring Fame to your event. On the Southeast wall will bring Money.
- See your event as Completed. Act as if. Olympic athletes know this. They see the end goal and work their way back. Have a vision. Write it down with all the steps that it took to make the event a success.
- Use Red. Keep a red journal, diary, notebook, of all your plans or details for the event. Red is a high energy and success color. If doing a table display, use red tablecloths. Add some red to your marketing brochures or emails. Wear Red at your event.
- Add the five elements. Wood, Earth, Metal, Fire, and Water are used in Feng shui for balance and harmony. You can use them in decorating for your event, your table display, meeting, etc. You can use the five elements in your marketing materials, website, or ads for your events.
Money Tip: Black, White, and Green and good colors for new business or promoting something new! I recently had a poster done for a client in these colors for his upcoming event in April 2015.
Wood can be plants and flowers; Earth would be crystals or ceramics or earth colors: Metal would be computers, devices, equipment, or pastel colors, creams, whites; Fire is Red or candles or lighting which are often used in weddings or party events; Water is actual water, mirrors, or reflective surfaces. Even pictures of water count. Black and Blue are water colors. You can decorate your event or wear any of these colors of the five element spectrum as well.
I run a monthly dog meetup in Austin, TX. Austin Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group. If doing a fund raiser, I might wear a red t-shirt. If giving a talk, often bring a plant or flowers for the table or podium.
Hope these are helpful and much success in your event planning!
