Trying to rent a room out of your home, renting out your home, or just need to rent some property? In today’s economy rentals are popular. Feng Shui can help because it is all about improving the energy flow in spaces. Why? People can feel either good or bad energy even if they don’t know quite how to describe it. It can make or break a deal.
Because… You might walk into a rental property and immediately feel turned-off even though the listing was appealing. You might be looking at a place someone referred to you that was not in the neighborhood you like to live but when you got there, you fell in love with it. It was the FENG SHUI!
Yes, it is all about energy. If a space is clean, organized, roomy and fresh feeling, you get good vibes. So…
Things to think about when renting property:
1) Get rid of clutter in the space. This includes the front porch and walkway. Curb appeal is everything.
2) Clean thoroughly. Dirt is an energy drain.
3) Spray some lemon water for new beginnings or lavender for relaxation. Make sure the space is inviting when you walk in. No cooking or smoke smells.
4)Make sure there is great lighting so people can see everything well. Open any drapes or blinds to let sunshine in.
5) Play some calming music when showing your home if possible.
6)Make sure temperature in space is appropriate for climate. Turn ceiling fans on low if in summer to not only move chi (energy) but to make the space feel airy.
7) If you have had previous renters, smudge the space to clear any stuck energy. Check out our Space Clearing page on our website. http://designforenergy.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=43
Finally, be clear on expectations of your renter. Make sure they fit what you are wanting and don’t settle thinking things will get worked out. If you are allergic to smoke and the person says they will smoke outside, it’s probably not a good fit. How can you be sure?
Make sure they understand what you expect by communicating and have a written agreement for them to sign. This is not the rental agreement but a separate sheet with house rules.
If you are the renter, make sure you like the way the space feels. Does it meet your needs? If not and you like the place, ask the landlord about the changes you desire. If they cannot or will not accommodate you, keep looking. If you are not happy there, the landlord won’t be either.
I have been successful in renting property when I was clear up front on what I expected in terms of maintenance and upkeep. No one is going to do everything the way you would but the chances of you being happy with your tenant will be greater.
