I start my year out busily as a feng shui consultant, Austin, Tx., helping feng shui clients set up their spaces for a successful year. It seems a good time since new energies come in each year. We re-arrange furniture, add new touches for a fresh look, place cures/remedies for the bad energies and enhance the good ones. From this point on, people can feel they have done all they need to do for they year.
This is not entirely true. Just like when you go to the doctor with a sickness and you get some medicine….You take your meds, start feeling better, and don’t do things to fortify your health, you get sick again.
This is the same with feng shui. When we do a full and comprehensive assessment, we help you apply energizers and corrections that are good for many years. But.. the day to day energy you and others bring into the home or office can have an effect. Arguing in the house, depression, remodeling, clutter, and dirt, can all create issues no matter what cures you have in place.
Here is what I advise my clients after I have worked with them in their homes and businesses about maintaining good feng shui.
6 Key Tips for Enhancing Energy Flow in Your Space and Keeping Good Feng Shui
1) Keep an eye on the Clutter Monster. It can creep up on you. Keep your desk and office free of clutter for continued prosperity. Clear out your e-mails regularly. Donate items monthly that you don’t use or need.
2) Smudge Your Space once a month or as needed. Buy native american sage, light it, and wave it throughout your space with doors and windows open. Visualize your space being cleared of stagnant and unwanted energies. It works immediately.
3) Fine-tune Intentions. While you don’t need to read what you have written down everyday, feel free to update them to reflect your dreams and where you want to go in life. Always write them in present tense. “I am happy doing what I love”. “I have a loving relationship with my partner”.
4) Keep Your Cures/Remedies working and in good shape. If a windchime or water fountain breaks, replace it. If the Bagua mirror on your front door falls down with wind, hang it back again more sturdily. Windex or wash your hanging crystals. They get dust on them and stop working. All your remedies need to be in great condition.
5) Add Fresh Flowers to your Space. Flowers are considered good luck in feng shui. They are great in entryways, dining tables, living rooms, bathrooms.
6) Keep your Space Clean. Dust and vaccuum regularly as stagnant energy dissapates and falls to the ground. It is good for your health, toddlers, and small pets, who are low to the ground. If possible, keep shoes near the door and have another set for walking in the home. Bottoms of shoes can carry bacteria and negative energy. Have a place where you guests can place their shoes when entering your home if you like. I always make it an option for my guests and do my best to carry this one out wherever I visit.
Remember to get a feng shui tune-up when you have a life issue change, major transition, or help with maintaining good energy flow. If energy is moving well, many positive things will be happening and you want to keep it that way.
